Endodontic Micro-Surgery

When the second attempt of trying to eliminate the infection in the canal fails, or due to anatomic factors, endodontic surgery—apicoectomy will be the option to save the tooth. During this procedure, your endodontist will remove the infection as well as small portion of the end of the tooth. There is no need to worry about this surgery as it is conducted under local anesthesia and painless. Some stitches or sutures will be placed after the procedure and will be removed usually a week later.

After the procedure, you will experience some post-operative pain, swelling and sometime bruising. Your endodontist will advise you to take sone painkiller as well as hygiene care.
